"Using “Prefer” 
Structure: Subject + prefer + noun/verb-ing + to + noun/verb-ing
Note:
  • Prefer > to like one thing more than another.
  • Would rather > to choose one thing instead of another in a specific situation.
Formality
  • Prefer is a little more formal and often used in writing.
  • Would rather is more informal and common in speaking.

  1. I prefer tea to coffee.
  2. She prefers reading to watching TV.
  3. They prefer playing outside to sitting indoors.
  4. He prefers walking to driving.
  5. We prefer homework to exams.
  6. I prefer listening to music to watching movies.
