📘 The Difference Between "Content Words" and "Function Words"
🔹 Content Words
Meaning: These words carry the main idea or meaning in a sentence.
They tell us what the sentence is about.
Examples:
  • Nouns: book, teacher, car
  • Main Verbs: eat, run, dance
  • Adjectives: big, red, happy
  • Adverbs: quickly, slowly, often
They are usually stressed when speaking.
Example: She reads a book in the library.
→ "Reads," "book," and "library" are content words.

🔹 Function Words
Meaning: These words help connect the content words.
They give structure or grammar to the sentence but not much meaning on their own.
Examples:
  • Articles: a, an, the
  • Prepositions: in, on, at
  • Pronouns: he, she, it
  • Auxiliary verbs: is, am, are, do, does
  • Conjunctions: and, but, or
🔈 These words are usually not stressed when speaking.
Example: She is reading a book.
→ "Is" and "a" are function words.
